Influence of Mitochondrial Stressors and Stress Responses on Lifespan

By: Brian Wasko

I am interested in determining how genetic and environmental factors affect the aging process at the molecular level. Of particular interest is the possible influence of mitochondrial stressors and stress responses on lifespan and healthspan.

Current efforts are focused on evaluating conservation of the mitochondrial unfolded protein response, and identifying molecular mechanisms underlying genotype-dependent responses to environmental mitochondrial toxins and dietary restriction.
